The Elling Family: Tacoma Family Photographer

With all these rainy weekends we’ve had I’m craving a sunny Saturday like we had a few weeks back when I met with the Ellings to do family photos and Svea’s 18 month photos. It’s funny how the weather changes so quickly, from October to November.

I’ve known the Ellings for quite awhile and it’s been a pleasure to watch their family grow. The boys have even gotten to known Svea, as we watched her on Fridays this last Summer. They adore her and really loved seeing a familiar face up on my computer screen while I was editing.

Dana and Ben: Tacoma Maternity Photographer

I was so thrilled when Dana asked me to take her maternity and newborn photos. Six years ago she student taught across the tall from me. I was just dating Kollin at the time and she was dating Ben. It’s amazing how quickly life changes. Now she is married, a fantastic middle school math teacher, and about to become a mom.
And she is just as lovely, if not lovelier. And Ben, he is going to be a great dad. Dana was having serious back pain and he was so attentive to her the whole time. Dana and Baby Lila are so lucky. Thanks for a beautiful evening Dana and Ben. I’m thinking about you guys this week!

Jenny and Michael: Tacoma Maternity Photographer

This session makes my heart so happy, for so many reasons. One reason being that it was my first sunrise session. I fell in love with the morning light. I’m ready for more sunrise shoots. Another reason was Jenny and Michael. We laughed so much that morning, I had to restrain myself from sharing ALL of the laughter photos. The third reason this session makes me happy is that, Jenny and Michael’s birth is the first birth I get to photograph. I feel so humbled and honor that they would invite me capture such a big day in their life.

Thank you Jenny and Michael for such a beautiful morning! I’m excited for to see you again.

Baby Jackson: Seattle Newborn & Family Photographer

The newborn/family session I did with the Quisenberry Family is my favorite kind of photo session. You know why? Because it wasn’t perfect. And yet, the photos are beautiful. Let me explain. When I had my babies I never even considered doing a newborn session. My first had baby acne, he was nursing 24/7, and if you set him down, he screamed. It didn’t seem doable. Then when we had our second, he was more mellow, but we had a 17 month old who was trying to get used to having a baby brother when he was still very much a baby. I believed that since things weren’t ideal we just couldn’t do it. But the truth is, life with a newborn isn’t ideal, but it doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be captured.

The Quisenberrys were such a kind family, I wanted to bring my boys over just so they could play with Evan. Evan hammed it up for the camera, but wasn’t really into holding his brother. Baby Jackson was so curious he didn’t want to sleep, which meant more feedings. But really, none of that mattered. Thank you Quisenberrys for such a wonderful time.

Gemma and John: Tacoma Maternity Photographer

I met with Gemma and John in early September for some baby bump photos. They chose downtown Tacoma around the glass museum since that is where they were married. It was a great place to return as they take the next big step in their life together. I loved working with them, I didn’t want the session to end. John just kept cracking Gemma up. I love those sessions when they focus more on each other than the camera.

When I emailed Gemma to tell her the photos were ready she responded telling me they were on the way to the hospital to have their baby girl. She’s definitely here by now. Congrats Johna and Gemma!
