Baby Maren: Dupont Newborn Photographer

The more newborn photos I do, the more I am loving it. A home with a newborn always has a very calm, sleepy feeling. It’s a waiting game as we wait for baby to fall asleep. But while we wait, baby and kid stories are swapped.

I had a great time the Evans family, well part of them. Her big brother and sister were on vacation with their grandparents so they could settle in. But I had the treat of meeting her sister Ella. Both of the girls were sweet as can be. John and Becky were so kind and I could have talked about motherhood with Becky all day long. Thank you Evans family for inviting me into your home.

Stay tuned to the whole family session.

    April Family Adventure: Tulip Fields

Yesterday we visited the Tulip Fields in Mount Vernon. It was a long, messy adventure, but was lots of fun. I thought I would share some shots from yesterday. It was quite the photography challenge. I usually avoid harsh light at all costs, but it pushed me to play with different light. The children running through giant puddles was a whole other challenge of it’s own. But it was wonderful to watch the boys roam free, playing in the sun. The tulips weren’t bad either.

Made to Create 2015 PNW Photography Workshop: Tacoma Photographer

Ever since I attended the Made to Create Photography workshop a week and a half ago, my mind has been swirling. I learned so much about, not just photography, but also myself. I learned about what is really important to me, I learned about what I really like to shoot, and I learned that I am different (which I already knew). But I learned to be confident and comfortable in all of those things, which is not normal for me.

There were so many talented photographers there, the old me would start comparing myself to all of them. Which initally I did. But the more settled into the weekend the more I realized I like the way I shoot, think, and see the world. And I’m excited to share that to the world. Birth, babies and families, but more on that another day.

We did a newborn session with two of the sweetest babies, with Kristal Joy Photography. I just wanted to eat them up. My favorite moments were watching the moms nestle in with their little ones.

      Baby Hudson:

The wedding session with Gabriel Van Wyhe Photography was very enlightening. I learned a lot about weddings and my voice as a photographer. This couple were such troopers. It was cold and pouring down rain and they were so patient as they waited for 14 photographers to photograph them in different poses/ locations. 2015-03-25_0019.jpg

I just want to say thank you to Devon, Chelle and Candice, our leaders, of Made to Create PNW. They have built a wonderful community of people who are willing to share and support their craft with others. I’ll see you next year!2015-03-25_0032.jpg

Kiri and Isaac: Olympia Wedding Photographer

I have known this family since I was in first grade. It was such a pleasure to be a part of Isaac and Kiri’s wedding. They are such a fun couple. They don’t take themselves too serious and they are always ready to have fun. Their love for each other is obvious to anyone who spends any amount of time with them.

It was a beautiful, simple, fall wedding. There were lots of converse, pumpkins, and laughter. Kiri and Isaac, thanks for letting me a part of your day.

          Annie & Friends: Tacoma Photographer

Annie turned 16 in October. Her mom wanted to surprise her with something fun to do with her friends. So we set up a friend session to do with the girls in her small groups. I must admit it was a little intimidating to shoot such a large group of girls. But they were so willing to have fun and laugh with it, they made my job easy.

I loved watching each individual personality shine through while photographing them. Beautiful girls inside and out. Thanks ladies, I had fun!

Note: As you scroll down you can see how we started with the beautiful sunlight and then how it slowly got eaten up by a big nasty dark cloud.
