This session was a really big deal to me. Kelli, is my doula, she’s been at the birth of both of my boys. She also has been a part of my life, as my couselor, after having babies. When photography was just a tiny wondering in my brain, when I had no skill at all, she believed I could make it into something. So when she asked me to do photos for her family, I really want to give her my best. Which was also a bit nerve-racking since she has a family of teenage boys (let’s just say I’d rather photograph a screaming toddler). I really need to get over that since I will one day have two teenage boys of my own. But for right now, they are a mystery to me.
But the beautiful part about this experience is; Kelli knows I want my clients to feel like themselves, and she wanted her boys captured just as themselves. And even though these are not your average family photos, the quiet personalities of her boys is present in these photos and preserved to be remembered.
