Baby Azriel: University Place Newborn Photographer

Kalli is the last of six teachers, from the school I taught at, to have a baby this year. I have had the privelege to photograph four of them. It’s amazing to see these women who care for kids everyday as mothers in their in homes. Baby Azriel is lucky to have parents like Mazi and Kalli. And he has a great big (dog) sister too, with so much energy, she is ready for a playmate. Thanks Kallie and Mazi!

The Furgason Family: Bellevue Family Photographer

I had so much fun with the Furgason family!!! I met Brittany at the birth I photographed in my last blog post. She is a doula and midwifery student. Not only was it so fun, it was one of those reminders of how small our world is. The Furgasons only live 5 minutes away and our kids are almost the exact same age. Thank you Furgasons for a great family session!

Emilia Mae’s Birth Story: Tacoma Birth Photographer

Emilia’s birth was my very first to photograph. So, as it was very exciting, it was also a huge learning experience.

At 10:30pm on Saturday April 2nd Christy texted me to say she was having pretty painful contractions and they were headed into the birth center to get checked. After waiting for a couple hours I headed out at 1am in the morning. She was contracting really well and also trying to rest. So I slept out in the waiting room until she was ready for me. At around 4:30am her doula came out to get me. When I came in she was getting an antibiotic and rocking through her labor. She did so great working through each contraction and was so calm in between each one, sometimes telling stories about her boys and laughing.

2016-06-21_0002.jpgNot long after receiving her antibiotic her labor picked up, and we could all tell the contraction were getting more intense and closer together. She worked through them, even eating a Chonga bagel her husband had brought her from Starbucks.

She quickly moved to the tub to work through her labor. Things were moving quickly. But she was so amazing and pushed through.

The time from when I walked in to when Emilia arrived was less than 3 hours. Having two long labors myself I was blown away by the speed and intesity. But then…she was there, lying on her mama’s chest. And that intensity just disappeared and Christy and Jonathan had their baby girl.

Thank you so much Christy and Jonathan for allowing me to be a part of your experience. You were amazing. And to the midwives and doula, Brittany, you ladies were also amazing to watch. Your support and encouragment was beautiful.

        Baby Annie: Tacoma Family Photographer

Annie’s big sister Claire was the first newborn photos I’d done. Over two years later I had the pleasure of photographing the Rafter Family as a family of four. I’ve gotten to watch Claire grow from an infant to a two year old big girl. I’m excited to watch Annie do the same thing. Thank you Rafter Family!

The Lincoln Family: Tacoma Family Photographer

I met Kim and Adam last spring when baby Katie was brand new. In April we met to get some one year photos of Katie and update their family photos. Kim’s parents joined us, which was a blast. We laughed to much. Every time I get to photograph a family for a second or even third year my heart feels so full. There is something special about being able to capture a family as they grow and change. Thank you Lincoln Family!
