Baby Jackson: Seattle Newborn & Family Photographer

The newborn/family session I did with the Quisenberry Family is my favorite kind of photo session. You know why? Because it wasn’t perfect. And yet, the photos are beautiful. Let me explain. When I had my babies I never even considered doing a newborn session. My first had baby acne, he was nursing 24/7, and if you set him down, he screamed. It didn’t seem doable. Then when we had our second, he was more mellow, but we had a 17 month old who was trying to get used to having a baby brother when he was still very much a baby. I believed that since things weren’t ideal we just couldn’t do it. But the truth is, life with a newborn isn’t ideal, but it doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be captured.

The Quisenberrys were such a kind family, I wanted to bring my boys over just so they could play with Evan. Evan hammed it up for the camera, but wasn’t really into holding his brother. Baby Jackson was so curious he didn’t want to sleep, which meant more feedings. But really, none of that mattered. Thank you Quisenberrys for such a wonderful time.

Gemma and John: Tacoma Maternity Photographer

I met with Gemma and John in early September for some baby bump photos. They chose downtown Tacoma around the glass museum since that is where they were married. It was a great place to return as they take the next big step in their life together. I loved working with them, I didn’t want the session to end. John just kept cracking Gemma up. I love those sessions when they focus more on each other than the camera.

When I emailed Gemma to tell her the photos were ready she responded telling me they were on the way to the hospital to have their baby girl. She’s definitely here by now. Congrats Johna and Gemma!

      Baby Maddox: Seattle Newborn Photographer

I had the pleasure of meeting Baby Maddox a few weeks ago. He was so sweet I was ready to slip him in my purse and bring him home. I have never met such a laid back baby. He was so relaxed; naked, swaddled, held, laying on a newspaper, whatever… This is the danger of doing newborn photography, I always leave their homes wanting another baby of my own.

Julie is also a very creative person who loves to decorate. Check out Maddox’s nursery, it’s very cool! I had a lot fun with Maddox, Julie and Maddox’s grandma (we of course had to get a few shots with her). Thanks Julie!

The Evans Family: Dupont Family Photographer

I met with the Evans family for a second time after Baby Maren was born. Her big brother and sister were on vacation and we wanted to make sure to get photos of the WHOLE family. The Evans were fun to work with. They were so kind to me and their kids were amazing. With the addition of Baby Maren they are a family of six. I was so impressed by how the whole family gelled. All family sessions have a bit of chaos, but the way they handled the chaos was so calm. Baby Maren’s big brother and sisters warmed up to her like she has always been a part of the family. Thank you Evans family for inviting me into your home.

On a side note, it is tricky getting 12 feet in one frame.

        Baby Maren: Dupont Newborn Photographer

The more newborn photos I do, the more I am loving it. A home with a newborn always has a very calm, sleepy feeling. It’s a waiting game as we wait for baby to fall asleep. But while we wait, baby and kid stories are swapped.

I had a great time the Evans family, well part of them. Her big brother and sister were on vacation with their grandparents so they could settle in. But I had the treat of meeting her sister Ella. Both of the girls were sweet as can be. John and Becky were so kind and I could have talked about motherhood with Becky all day long. Thank you Evans family for inviting me into your home.

Stay tuned to the whole family session.
