Day in the Life: Tacoma Family Photographer

I don’t do a lot of documentary sessions, but when I do my heart feels very satisfied. There is something about watching a family go about their normal day and being the one to find moments of love and beauty, that we as parents don’t see, because we are too tired and busy. It’s a gift to be able to capture those photos and share those highlights with families.

I’m currently taking a course in family filmmaking, which is the next step to documentary photography. It’s your family in motion, life, music, play, their sweet voices held together forever. I’m excited to share more as I continue on with my course.

The Fee Family: Seattle Family Photographer

Just barely over a year ago I photographed this sweet family bringing baby Judah into the world at their home…and then a week later for newborn photos as their family of four cozied up together. As they are moving out of state, I was so glad for the opportunity to photograph them one more time. It’s amazing to see how much they have changed over the last year and to see the start of that brotherly bond forming. Thank you Fee Family, good luck on your next adventure.

Skagit Valley Tulip Festival: PNW Family Photographer

Disneyland, the ocean, the pumpkin patch and the tulip fields are my favorite places to go with my family. Minus Disneyland, wide open spaces are what these places have in common. These are places my children get to roam…the sky is endless and it’s where I get to see my children truly be children. No toys, gift shops, screens, etc.

We went to the tulip fields yesterday, and though it’s not easy loading three kids in the car who get thirsty, hungry, hot, cold, tired and antsy, despite all that, my heart and soul were filled with joy and contentment.

While we drove home, all I kept thinking was I wanted to go back, for just a little longer. I kept dreaming of following family’s around for documentary sessions at the tulip fields…but those are the weird dreams we photographers have. We drool over, light, color and capturing life. If you have strange dreams like me and are not a photographer, shoot me an email. I’d love to go back to the tulip fields and follow your and your family around (in a not so creepy way).
