The Buri Family: Priest Lake Family Videographer

I shot this storytelling film last summer when I was on my own vacation in Coeur d’ Alene, ID. I knew Rachel and Nate in college and they knew I make the trip out to Idaho every summer, just two hours from where they had their family vacations on Priest Lake. So it happened to work out that I could slip away from my family for half a day and hang out with theirs. This was the best session. I love life on the like, especially Idaho lakes. The colors of the trees, rocks and water have such a distinct look. There is always a calm in everyone being on the water, that also carries a sense of fun. I could have stayed with them all day, but I had to get back to my own family.

If you want to see the Buri’s film, scroll through the photos and check out our morning at the late. So many great memories were captured.

The Saddler Family: Tacoma Family Videographer

I shot this film of the Saddler family last July on a very hot afternoon/evening. Watching this family of 6 gave me a little taste of what my life would soon look like, which has proven to be very true. There is so much activity, so much life going on, all the time. Megan, handled it with so much grace and ease, I wish I could have harnessed some of it in a bottle to have to survive my current summer with 4 kids.

With each storytelling family film session, I always make sure to capture a handful (or more) of still. We were so busy, I wasn’t able to capture as many as I normally do. After to scroll through these images you can enjoy their family film at the bottom of the page.

The Robbins-Ghormley Family: Tacoma Family Photographer

It has been over two years since the last time I blogged any work. The pandemic has brought so much of my work to a standstill. I’ve had to do the bare minimum with kids home for over a year and then the addition of our fourth and final baby.
But it’s been fun to look back at my work during the pandemic with fresh eyes. This session was from last June at the very beginning of the hottest heat wave I’ve experienced during my life-time. On top of it, I was 20 weeks pregnant, which made everything even hotter.
Home sessions are my absolute favorite. I love capturing the personality of the family, but also of the home itself, as it is a member of the family. Enjoy this session with the Robbins-Ghormleys.

      Baby Calvin: Tacoma Newborn Photographer

It’s so fun, when you start photographing a family and they are a couple expecting their very first baby for a maternity session. Then you get to meet and capture those quiet moments at home with the shock and beauty of a brand new baby. And then in a snap, two years later they call you with the arrival of their second baby, and that first sweet baby is a walking, talking two year old, experiencing their own shock and wonder of a new baby. And now mom and dad have found their rhythm and you get to be a witness to the beautiful family they have made. As a photographer, it really is a gift to capture the transformation of a family.

The Rorem Family: Tacoma Family Photographer

I’ve been photographing my sister’s family since I started shooting 6 years ago. What’s been fun, is over time they have seen my grown and progress, and really trust my vision and the freedom I like to give to kids during sessions. They let me take the riegns and trust that something lovely will come out of it. Not to mention, next to my kids, these nieces and nephew of mine are some of my favorite muses.
