The VanLaanan Family: Seattle Family Photographer & Videographer

This is the first of many sessions I have had with the VanLaanan Family. We’ve created a couple of family films within our family photo sessions. But they have also shown up at a couple of my mini-sessions. Looking back at these from 2022, I’m amazed how much their sweet kids have grown. When Tolle emailed me, she shared with me a very interesting hobby she has, which is called RepliKating. There are a collection of women who enjoy collecting fashions that Princess Kate wears and replicating her outfits. It’s always fun to see how she and the kids will come dressed. I must admit I do have a bit dress envy. Here is an article that was written about her and her hobby, where one of my images is featured.

You can also check out the short Keepsake Film we made during this session. I loved my time exploring Ravenna Park.

If you love this backdrop as much as I do and are based in Seattle, reach out, I’d love to have a another session here. What kind of unique hobbies do you have that people may have not heard about before. I’d love to include it in a session.

Our Family Vacation to Lincoln City, OR: Tacoma Family Photographer

The weekend leading up to the Fourth of July our family headed to the Oregon Coast to the beaches in Lincoln City. We were in desperate need of a getaway. It’s been a stressful year, we were so grateful for the oppotunity to be out in nature away from life’s responsibilities. We had no interest in doing all the beach store shopping. We were happies to have our toes buring in the sand our hair in the wind. It was also a delight to pick up my camera again. I haven’t had the creative energy I used to have. Getting out of a space that keeps me so busy, helped reegnite my creativity Of course, I still have to parent when I’m taking pictures, but it helps me pause and pay attention to the good and the beauty that is in front of me, rather than just the challenges. Here are some of my favorite images I took during our trip.

Photos at the beach are some of the most beautiful, artistic images, as the light is so pure. Check out this family session I did at the ocean on Rockaway Beach. The first was a documentary session, the second was multi-generational family portraits.

Baby George: Silverton, OR Newborn Photographer

It’s such a treat for me when I get to photograph my friends and their families. Even if it means getting up early in the morning to travel 4 hours from Tacoma to Silverton, OR. I love it! Because I was also there to visit with my friend Megan and meet her new baby George, I was there much longer, which meant extra photos and even a short video of George and big sister, Nora. I spent one on one time just with Nora, to make sure she felt special, since so much focus often falls on new babies. She was a bundle of energy. I love creating playful photos that capture the true essence of a child. Then we just got some laid back photos of them doing there thing. Later we did portraits and then more play at the park. I wish everyone had this kind of time for photos. Not only because you capture some of the best photos, but moving slowly through the process makes it so much easier for babies and kids.

If you are interested in a newborn and family session, you have different options to choose from when it comes to style and approach. We can shoot in a documentary style, where I just capture you and your family in your element. We can shoot lifetyle which is a mix and portrait and natural photos. You can also keep it to strictly portraits. It really depends on how you want to remember these special moment.

If you would like to see their family film you can watch it HERE.

Casey: Stadium High School Class of 2024: Tacoma Senior Photography

At the end of the summer last year, I got together with Casey and his mom, Katie, to take his senior photos as he was getting ready to finish his last year at Stadium High School. We ended up choosing two of the most iconic locations in Tacoma to take his portraits. The first being in front of his high school, which is a well known building, known for the backdrop of the movie Ten Things I Hate About you. We also went to the beautiful Wright Park. This was a special place to Casey since, as a cross country running, he often would work his way through the park on his countless runs.

Casey was very sweet during the session, as he wasn’t all that thrilled about getting his photos taken, but he kept telling his mom, “these are for you.” I find that senior boys are less excited about getting their photos taken than girls. However, they never regret doing it by the end. If you have a senior in high school graduating this coming school year, summer is a great time to book your session. You benefit from the great weather, and getting it done for the year. Book your senior photos today! Yay class of 2025!

The Weber Family : Tacoma Family Photographer: Ruston Way Jack Hyde Park

The Weber Family is a very special family to me. I have been photographing them since their oldest was in his mama’s belly for maternity photos on Brown’s Point. It has been such a gift to watch this family grow. I have done newborn, maternity, generational and family photos. All the while, also getting to know them and learn about their own Journey as a family. I have so much love and respect for this family. Enjoy these sweet photos.

How much as your family changed since you last took family portraits? Sometimes it takes a photograph to see how big your kiddos have gotten. Book you family photos this summer when the light is beautiful and the weather is warm.
